Echoing the stoke about the blog post - that was fantastic. I'm excited to follow along, brilliant substack!

I’m not sure if you’ll know what I’m talking but your point on how it’s much more interesting to read about the feelings music evokes in a person reminds me of a point that an online music critic named anthony fantano has made. I remember he talked about how he rarely discusses music theory in his reviews because he finds that most people consume music on an emotional level. It’s great to see that many others share that sentiment.

I’d definitely agree with that. Perhaps that’s one of the reasons why his reviews/opinions are now more trusted and sought out than nearly all other more traditionally established publications

Just to say, I think I’m really going to enjoy this. I’m a little older than you so I imagine I will have associations with all these songs (if not specific memories as such) and I’ve loved reading the two so far. Thanks for linking to that blog post too. It’s a charming read and it made me cry!

Also, if your darkest secret is watching reruns of TOTP, I think you’re doing OK!

Thanks Lou! I hope I live up to your expectations!

That blog really is fantastic. I come back to it pretty regularly. Feels like a Substack before Substack was a thing.
